Using Twitter and Blogs to Find a Christmas tree at Yonge and Eglinton, Toronto

It is tradition in my family to have a real Christmas tree, a tradition I greatly value. Living in the city of Toronto, though, I can hardly go and chop one down. It helps to know where you can buy one.

I wanted to find one in my neighborhood, rather than rent a car to get one at my usual spots: Loblaw (St. Clair and Bathurt) or Metro (Yonge and Bayview).  I did a few searches on the topic, but I wasn't having much luck (too many sites promoting Christmas trees generally). However, I did luck out and find a woman who was blogging about services in the Yonge & Eg area. She also had a twitter id on her site. I sent her a message on twitter and within a hour she responded with some places. I then checked them out. One of them was Sheridan nurseries, which has great plants and other garden supplies. I checked their online flyer, got a price from them, and then called the Metro grocer to compare prices. I was surprised, but Sheridan's prices were close to Metro's. But since I can walk to Sheridan, I will likely go there rather than have the expense of driving.
