Overlap with the new Star Trek and the Empire Strikes Back

I was struck by some big and small overlap between the two films when I was
watching the ESB the other night with my son. The big overlap was both
films have scenes of the protagonist being attacked by large monster-like
creatures on frozen planets where the protagonist ends up in a cave. The
small one was that Han Solo orders the Falcon to go into hyperdrive by
saying "punch it", while Pike orders the Enterprise to go into warp by
saying "punch it". I know other captains used to say "engage" and Picard
used to say "make it so", but "punch it" was new. Yet not really new. -----------------
