How to enjoy where you live

It requires something simple: you need to imagine yourself as a tourist
come to where you live. Think of all the people visiting where you live now
and how excited they are to be there. If you live in a city, there are lots
of tourists who come to your city to enjoy it. And if you live in a rural
area, there are likely city dwellers who would love to come to where you
live and to get away from the city. In any case, imagine being them and
imagine being excited about being there. What excites them about where you
live? If you were to ask them, they would likely string off a long list of
things, from special places to see, music to hear, dishes to eat, cafes to
hang out in, shops to buy things, great weather...the list can seem
endless. They list those things because they are genuinely good. Think of
it this way: when you go to visit a place as a tourist, what is all new and
exciting for you may not seem that way to the people that live there. This
is a shame for them, yes? The same can be said for you. You live in a great
place, most of you, if only you can imagine that you do. Enjoy the good
things of where you are, and consider yourself fortunate to have them.

I started doing this about 5 years ago & it really works! : D
...Too bad that it took me 17 years to learn to appreciate the beauty of the little town that I am fortunate enough to live in! ; /
